I can’t begin to describe how much fun I had yesterday, I attended what you could easily term as a “ghen- ghen “ wedding, it was wonderful. Whose wedding was it??? – ponder no more , it was the wedding of none other than Sisi Yemmie and Bobo Yomi ,winners of My Big Nigerian Wedding contest organized by WED Expo (An all expense paid wedding worth N15million) .The ministry has moved to permanent site

Yemisi is a lifestyle blogger , you can visit her site here She looked absolutely gorgeous and Bobo Yomi was tall , dark and handsome in his dashing outfit. As I stepped into the reception hall, my breath ceased , it was so beautifully decorated. I was particularly awed at the Red Carpet / PhotoBooth , all you needed to do was strike a pose and you had your custom made pictures in – talk about efficiency .

The ambience of the hall for lack of a better word was heavenly. The flowers, the stage, the food all helped me to easily make up my mind that I must participate in the next edition. Here is to Mr. Akin the concept owner: Take note, I want to remarry  .

Dancing time was another fun moment, “come see steps now “, although it was easy to decipher that they got their dancing skills from their parents you should have seen them go too. All in all it was a great wedding.
Congrats Mr and Mrs Odusanya. May God bless your Union.

I attended the Tasteoff food carnival with my boo and Azuka – she doubles as a friend and a food blogger and of course she won the VIP giveaway for being a top commentator.Truth be told , i haven’t seen so much food in one place. Happy Tuesday people,

The most anticipated fashion show in Nigeria was held over the weekend- the Lagos Fashion Design Week was sponsored by GTBank and Maybelline.I attended not as a guest but as a makeup artist , it was all backstage where the magic happened. It was as exciting as ever , only problem was that the earliest time i got home was 11pm  (: .

The amazing team put together by the creative Artistic Director Bimpe Onakoya was revved up and ready to do justice on the model’s faces , it was indeed a great experience as i bonded with other makeup artist , photographers , models etc backstage. Trust me I am still recovering from the exhaustion but i loved every minute of it.

Getting familiar with the products and setting up was a breeze  and with the demonstration of the LOOK each designer wanted , it was almost painless to recreate the look.Other awesome super talented makeup artist i worked with were  lola Maja, Noredia,Oritan,Chichi, Olabisi,Jide, Dave, Stephen, Kayode, Ifeanyi,Ngozi,Tobi,Osaretin,Jumoke, Fatima,Lora,Remi,Mayowa,Evelyn and  Blacky Jumoke ,i miss u guys already.

The lessons i took away from working back stage are listed in no particular order:

Be punctual no matter what.
Be a Team Player
Creativity is highly needed
Maintain Calmness under pressure
Be organized and confident
If you don’t understand the face chart ask questions
Smile often you can never tell when you are being snapped as the backstage was flooded with a lot of photographers and camera men.
Make sure you have fun while you work as well
Keep you personal belongings carefully
Conserve energy when you can
Always wear comfortable shoes and clothes
Always network with everyone

The countdown has begun .Don’t try to spin your head , I am talking about Christmas , I am still yet to meet someone who loves the season more than I do . I would like to say that I have officially started accepting gifts for Christmas, try to bring them in early as late gifts might not get you that deserved hug

OK so coming back to reality , I was happy when i got a call from Mary Jane of  Zaron International, she explained how they wanted to have an Exclusive Makeup Artist Appreciation Day event which was geared towards celebrating Makeup Artists who work round the clock to showcase African talent and beauty, the event was held at their Ikoyi office in Lagos.It felt really good to have a day set apart by a brand to celebrate practicing makeup artist.

They have been  listening to our suggestions and expectation of the Brand. A quick demonstration using their product was given by MJ while Vivian talked more about the various products and formulation of some products, we later had  light refreshment and of course the goodie bag

How y’all doing ? Pretty fine I hope . It just occurred to me as I was about to put up this post that this is actually another post related to hair , how that happened I really can’t say  – maybe we will just label it the Hair month .

Anyways , I was at a press briefing for Natures Gentle Touch Hair and Beauty Care in Nigeria last week. It was an awesome event that opened my eyes to certain things I didn’t know about hair, their brand and the different products and services they offer for natural hair and already permed hair.

That was all fun but you know my fun is never complete without a goodie bag and this was not just any kind of goodie bag – a customized goodie bag.I also got the highest hair freebie of the month, a free hair test and styling, those guys sure know how to entertain their guests :).

Natures Gentle Touch Redefines Hair and Beauty Care in Nigeria
….Provides range of solutions to Nigerian women’s hair challenges

Personal style brand, Natures Gentle Touch, manufactured by Recare Limited has reassured Nigerian women of its promise to deliver hair care solutions that will keep their hair healthy and beautiful.

Speaking during a media roundtable held recently at the Natures Gentle Touch Hair Institute, Production Manager, Recare Limited, Mr. Daniel Appiah, stated that the company’s product lines are made with natural based ingredients required to give a healthy and beautiful hair. He noted that every product under the brand was created bearing in mind the Nigerian climate condition as well as other factors that could affect the Nigerian woman’s hair.

“Our objective is to ensure that every Nigerian woman achieves her beauty goals. Having a hair that is one hundred percent healthy, beautiful and natural is a major part of these goals. We have several products that currently seek to solve various hair challenges which include dry and itchy scalp, dandruff and hair breakage. Our products are tested and trusted by many Nigerian women,” said Appiah.

He added that the company will continue to introduce more products that will help every woman maintain her natural hair and help repair damaged hair.

Similarly, Field Education Manager, Recare Limited, Mr. Daniel Komlan while educating the press on ‘Nigerian Hair and Challenges’, noted that a major reason why most women have damaged hair is because they don’t know how to care for their hair and many hair stylists also do not have the technical skills required to care for the hair.

He added that in addition to providing solutions to women’s hair challenges, Natures Gentle Touch Hair Institute serves as a training centre for potential and experienced hair stylists.

There we have it, Nigeria is opening up at an astronomical rate , I mean several years back who would have thought we would be attending wedding industry conference , that would have just been laughable.

The wedding industry in Nigeria conference held at The Haven Event Centre, beside Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral (Police College Road), Ikeja GRA on February 4th, 2015, it kicked off officially at about 10:30am and ended at 5pm .The theme was Growth of the Wedding Industry and it’s Impact on the Nigerian Economy.

A lot of entrepreneurs in the wedding industry were present at the event, it was a great time to learn about the industry and listen to experts share their experiences while learning from them.The Wedding Industry Conference & Exhibition (TWICE) was organized by Akin Eso, the CEO of WED Expo and a committee of seasoned practitioners in the industry.

I did notice something though which we might have to talk about in the future  – Rather than networking and seeking mentoring assistance, most people were more concerned about taking pictures with the speakers.I dare say that networking and getting the right information supersedes those pictures.

The industries showcased were the  wedding  , photography , make up , Fashion , event decoration ,DJ, MC and  Band industries which were duly represented by professional practitioners  .All the topics were educative, relevant, inspiring and engaging.

The SPEAKERS were Lanre Olushola, a motivational speaker and life coach who was the keynote speaker of the event. Tunji Babatunde, a life coach and motivational speaker who inspired the audience. Other seasoned players in the wedding industry were also in attendance like Funke Bucknor-Obruthe (Zapphaire Events), Mai Atafo (Mai Atafo Inspired), Banke Meshida-Lawal (BM Pro), Kelechi Amadi-Obi (Kelechi Amadi Obi Studios), Tosan Jemide (Cakes By Tosan), Ayiri Oladunmoye (Oaken Events), Tara Fela Durotoye (House Of Tara), Ibidun Ighodalo (Elizabeth R Events), Seyi Olusanya (Once Upon A Destination) and a host others.

I made new friends and met some of my blog readers , you guys are the best.

It has been a splendid month thus far even though I have been unavoidably absent, I had to take out time to visit the lastest addition to my family – my niece Anuoluwayikanmi. We bless God for this beautiful angel.

OK , so whats new ?? On Wednesday, we experienced a quantum leap in the makeup industry , it was the unveiling of guild governors of the of the Makeup Artist Guild of Nigeria #MAGN.

This is unarguably the dawn of a new era in the makeup industry, finally some level of regulation will be achieved through this platform.

MAGN is Nigeria’s makeup and beauty industry association that will bring passionate beauty forward professionals together.

The mission in plain English is to establish, promote integrity and raise high standards within our industry through the active participation of our members by offering a suite of benefits that will enhance their various enterprise.

The need for standardization and raising the bar arose as the industry began to experience a great number of makeup artists and also the sudden interest of international brand plying their trade Nigeria has necessitated the very crucial need for this institution. Professionalism, ethics of the trades and other very important tenets are needed to sustain the credibility and respect in the global market.

MAGN ‘s mandate is to be an active authoritative voice promoting integrity and high standards within the beauty industry.

The Governors Nominated selected based on a number of criteria are: Tara Fela- Durotoye, Banke Meshida Lawal, Bolanle Okusanya Feyita ,Eni Balogun Yewande Peregrino, Lolade Ogunjimi Bunmi Oyeniyi ,Kemi Uwaga, , Olusegun hakeem ,Bimpe Onakoya and Ebele Ugochukwu

They will serve as expert spokespeople to the Guild, they will also ensure the Guild remains relevant with the needs of its Executives and the industry at large. Advisers to the executives of the guild will provide support, inspire and motivate MAGN members.

After a year an executive body will come on board who will run the affairs of the guild, they will be nominated and voted for publicly (the Governors are not part of the executives)

When I started out on this makeup journey, I asked myself severally if this was going to be worth it. Several years down the line , this question has answered itself repeatedly.This industry is here to stay and growing bigger and better and with the new founded guild , expect greater strides.

To buttress my point, last week was very eventful , I was invited by Elizabeth Arden to their media launch where they unveiled the brands and brand ambassador of Elizabeth Arden skincare, makeup and perfumes in Nigeria.

Here’s the thing , against  all odds, more and more companies are making their way to Nigeria, I am indeed excited as the future is extremely bright .I  had the opportunity to see and feel some of the products ( especially the makeup line) and they were fantastic especially the flawless foundation and powder plus, I  also had the pleasure of  networking with other media practitioners .
